Justice League/Power Rangers #5

Picking up right where the fourth issue ended, the Justice League assures the United Nations of the Power Rangers' universe not to panic after Angel Grove disappeared all the while it's revealed that Braniac and Zedd have the real Alpha and are trying to control him. Halfway through the comic, Alpha explains to Braniac why he will never betray his friends even through reprogramming as they battle his forces and rescue him. It all ends with Alpha joining in the battle by using one of Zedd's bombs to make himself grow and fight the monsters. One of the most interesting uses of narration I've seen in any comic, Justice League/Power Rangers #5 is able to capturing everything great for both Power Rangers and DC heroes. The artwork is spectacular, especially during the big battles both outside and inside of Braniac's ship. Wonder Woman's entrance in to the UN is great at paying attention to what characters are best known for and the ending is freaking awesome. Over all: 100%

Kingsman: The Golden Circle

Set a year after the first Kingsman film, The Golden Circle ups the ante with a lot more over the top action sequences and futuristic looking gadgets. After the Kingsman is all but destroyed, with only Eggsy and Merlin surviving an attack by a drug cartel boss with an affinity for 1950s nostalgia who wants to gain immunity for her crimes by making special drugs that causes painful death and only she has the cure for. With no one left from Kingsman, the two survivors learn that the agency has a secret American version known as the Statesman wherein they get help from them in stopping the main villain while also learning that Eggsy's mentor survived from the first film but with amnesia. While the action sequences are just as crazy and fun as the first film and the acting is really great, the second Kingsman film isn't as great as the first one. There isn't a lot of interaction between Julianne Moore's bubbly villain and the spy heroes just like with Samuel L. Jackson in the first. Though most of the action scenes are well done, many of them feel way too frenetic and occur too often at times. While seeing the Statesman agents was great to expand on this universe, the fact that Channing Tatum only appears for about ten minutes and doesn't do much is very disappointing. The most memorable part of the film is the final battle at the end between Eggsy and his allies against Moore's villain and her goons, though how it ends just feels confusing and doesn't make any sense. Over all: 80%

It

Based on the 1986 novel by Stephen King and previously adapted as a miniseries in 1990 starring Tim Curry, It is the first King adaptation I've seen in theaters. It is a beautifully crafter horror film centering on a group of kids in the late 1980s who must band together to confront a supernatural entity that haunts their town and feeds on its people by showing their fears and mainly appearing as a clown. The main cast, all children, all do an incredible job at portraying their characters and play off each other so fluidly that its hard to believe that any of them never knew each other before they were all cast. Bill Skarsgard takes over from Tim Curry as the titular monster, also calling itself Pennywise the Dancing Clown. The tone, atmosphere, cinematography, music, and performances all add to how well this film works as a horror film. It isn't afraid to show the worst things that could possibly happen to children in this kind of story. Pennywise is frightening due to being able to alter anything and everything anyway he wants, but only through people's fears. The best part is definitely the confrontation the group, known as the Losers, has with Pennywise at the end that is both awesome, funny, and cathartic. Though even though you know there will be a sequel due to how large the novel is, the ending to it doesn't feel forced to show that there is another film and earns its ending and eventual conclusion. Over all: 100%
