One Word Poem 2.

Eat!

Good nutrition.

Keeps you healthy.

Helps you grow strong!

Always stay in good condition.

Make sure you always stay fit!

Healthy also means to live longer life.

Make sure you eat your vegetables and fruits.

If you do not it can really hurt you!

Your life will be much shorter if you eat unhealthy.

Staying fit works best if you exercise for many days.

Secret Message poem

Secret Message Poem.

Many a times,

Occasionally however,

Varying in some degree

Is a secret message

Everywhere you look,

Sometimes right there under your nose.

Really try harder,

Of course you’ll find it

Cause you are smart

Kids are smart.

Literature to movie adaptations

Literature to movie adaptations.

            Since the creation of film, there have been two ways to make a story for the films to follow and the audiences to watch. One is by doing an original story, where the idea is not based on anything but just made up, and the other is adaptations. That’s when you make a movie out of a story from something else, like a historical event, from a play, from other shows or movies, books, and others.

            The best known and profitable of film adaptations is when a form of literature, like novels, short stories, and comic books, is adapted to film. Some work while some don’t, and some films might be true to the book, in that they have all or almost all that’s in the book, or they’re totally different from the source material.

            Some famous literature to movie adaptations include some of the James Bond novels and short stories by Ian Fleming, Gone with the Wind, the Batman films, Lord of the Rings, The Silence of the Lambs, The Godfather, Psycho, Ben-Hur, and many others. Many of these films are also famous for making sequels with their own stories that are sometimes adapted into literature, like some of the James Bond films, The Godfather Part III, the Psycho sequels, and so many others.

            There are some movies based on certain types of literature that are very different from the source, but can either be successful or hurt it. Some include Stanley Kubrick’s version of The Shining, by Stephen King, which when it came out was not well received because of how different it was. Although today it’s considered one of the best films ever made, even if King still has a problem with how different it is. Other changes into film include Hannibal, since no one was happy with how the novel ended, which is why Jodie Foster wound up not reprising her Oscar-winning role of Clarice Sterling since it took so long to rewrite an ending for the movie.

            While there are some adaptations which are different, there are ones who are like the books they’re adapted from. Like the Lord of the Rings, which is why it was split into three movies, or the last Harry Potter novel being turned into two films because they wanted everything in the book into the movie as oppose to the other book to film adaptions.

Superhero Movies.

Since the late 1930s comic books have given us fictional superheroes, such as Batman and Iron Man. It wasn’t long until movies were made out of these stories. During the 1940s and 1950s, superheroes were shown in movie serials, which were made to compete against television. By the late 1950s, there were no more serials, there was instead a live action Superman show starring George Reeves.

            After Reeves’s tragic and mysterious death in 1959, the Superman show was cancelled and only two pilots related to Superman were made again, but neither aired. It wasn’t until 1966, when Adam West portrayed Batman in the campy TV show, that superheroes started being interesting again. The show lasted for three seasons, with a feature length film made between seasons one and two. After the show’s cancellation, it was years before an unknown actor made audiences believe that a man could truly fly.

            This actor was Christopher Reeve, and he starred in the first modern superhero film, Superman the Movie. Co-starring Oscar winners Gene Hackman and Marlon Brando, and directed by The Omen’s Richard Donner, the movie, which went on to receive universal acclaim and box-office success, had, like many successful movies, a troubled production, but went on to be Warner Brothers’ biggest film at the time. After three sequels and a spinoff with Supergirl in the 1980s, many believed that it would be impossible to make another successful comic book movie. That was until a certain dark Caped Crusading detective changed all that and defied the same odds as Superman.

            That hero was Batman in the 1989 movie, directed by Tim Burton and starring Michael Keaton as Batman, Kim Basinger as Vicky Vale, and Jack Nicholson as the Joker. After the success of this film and it’s sequels the superhero movie was secured as a genre that’s staying. Others success stories include the Spider-Man films, the X-Men films, RED, and Captain America, and there are high hopes for an upcoming Superman and Batman movie scheduled to be released in 2016, along with more Marvel Cinematic films, a Justice League movie, and Deadpool.
             What makes these films so special is that they represent our modern mythologies, stories telling of heroes and their deeds similar to those of the Greek heroes like Hercules or even King Arthur. They way Marvel is telling its movies and shows is something unique and what so many have wanted, especially those who had been attending Comic-Con for decades.
