Mighty Morphin Power Rangers FCBD 2018 Shattered Grid Special

Released in the middle of the comic book event of which this issue is named after, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers FCBD 2018 Shattered Grid Special sees a version of Zordon seeking help to defeat Lord Drakkon, an alternate Tommy Oliver who stayed evil, gained control of Rita Repulsa's army, and has defeated many Rangers throughout time and universes. Seeking those who control the Morphin Grid, Zordon must first convince their Emissaries of the threat Drakkon poses to reality and the Grid itself. Regardless of what Zordon says, however, the Emissaries are not convinced of his pleas and send him back, unaware that Drakkon is close to collecting enough Morphers to enter the Grid. While I may not have read the rest of Shattered Grid, this Free Comic Book Day title is a good introduction to the storyline. It explains the back story and main plot of the event through Zordon's plea while giving us brief flashbacks to how his version's Rangers formed, similar to the original team from 1993, and the differences of this reality. The writing from Kyle Higgins and Ryan Parrot is amazing, especially at adding a few things that don't make it feel like a retread such as confirming that Drakkon killed Rita and the Emissaries resemble red, blue, and yellow Rangers shifting between different versions. Adding to its good writing is the issue's impeccable and gorgeous artwork thanks to Diego Galindo and the brisk and beautiful coloring by Marcelo Costa. If I ever do get to read the main story, there's no doubt that it will be as epic, colorful, and unforgettable as this one-shot. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers FCBD 2018 Shattered Grid Special may at first seem like a comic meant to just tell you of the event going on throughout the various Power Rangers comics by Boom! Studios, but is a lot more that will entice you to want more. Over all: 100%
