Deadpool

What is the best way to describe the 2016 film Deadpool? There are just too many words to actually describe how incredible this film is, not just as a superhero comic book film but as a film overall. Ryan Reynolds is perfectly cast as the fourth wall breaking, murdering, wise cracking Merc With a Mouth. The film intelligently plays with the usual tropes of a superhero origins film with its fun jokes, perfectly timed flashbacks, and great fourth wall breaking moments. Just like the character and his stories in the comics, the film is very meta and knows how absurd the movie is especially at the beginning when it gives us the credits. Deadpool may be a sadistic insane killer with macabre jokes but he's still lovable enough you don't care how much blood and guts he spills wherever he goes. Though one would normally be annoyed when stuff in the trailers aren't actually in the films, it makes sense since a lot of jokes in the trailer were probably different takes so as to not overplay the actual jokes. With its success, proving that hard R rated superhero film can work, hopefully other similar movies that deserve the rating will be made and not just make something R rated since it went well for Deadpool. Over all: 100%
Top list so far:
1. Deadpool
2. 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi
