The Menu

The Menu proves that the world of culinary arts can be both so enticingly delicious and morbidly terrifying at the same time. Director Mark Mylod crafts an incredible horror comedy that focuses more on the slow build up than anything too graphic. Writers Seth Reiss and Will Tracy manage to make such an enticing script with fun wit, great critique towards the elite and wealthy, and well paced horror alongside memorable characters. Peter Deming's cinematography is good, nothing entirely new or unique, but his use of lighting does help enhance the horror when needed. The production design not only gives us minimal, but incredible, sets but the architecture lends itself well to the genre and the food presented is just as incredible. Finally, the cast are all phenomenal, with Anya Taylor-Joy always a knockout, Ralph Fiennes giving a good mix of warmth and terror, and everyone else just as incredible. Horror is a genre with no boundaries, whether you set it in a summer camp, a hospital, or with The Menu in a rich restaurant. Over all: 100%
