It

Based on the 1986 novel by Stephen King and previously adapted as a miniseries in 1990 starring Tim Curry, It is the first King adaptation I've seen in theaters. It is a beautifully crafter horror film centering on a group of kids in the late 1980s who must band together to confront a supernatural entity that haunts their town and feeds on its people by showing their fears and mainly appearing as a clown. The main cast, all children, all do an incredible job at portraying their characters and play off each other so fluidly that its hard to believe that any of them never knew each other before they were all cast. Bill Skarsgard takes over from Tim Curry as the titular monster, also calling itself Pennywise the Dancing Clown. The tone, atmosphere, cinematography, music, and performances all add to how well this film works as a horror film. It isn't afraid to show the worst things that could possibly happen to children in this kind of story. Pennywise is frightening due to being able to alter anything and everything anyway he wants, but only through people's fears. The best part is definitely the confrontation the group, known as the Losers, has with Pennywise at the end that is both awesome, funny, and cathartic. Though even though you know there will be a sequel due to how large the novel is, the ending to it doesn't feel forced to show that there is another film and earns its ending and eventual conclusion. Over all: 100%
