Set a year after the first Kingsman film, The Golden Circle ups the ante with a lot more over the top action sequences and futuristic looking gadgets. After the Kingsman is all but destroyed, with only Eggsy and Merlin surviving an attack by a drug cartel boss with an affinity for 1950s nostalgia who wants to gain immunity for her crimes by making special drugs that causes painful death and only she has the cure for. With no one left from Kingsman, the two survivors learn that the agency has a secret American version known as the Statesman wherein they get help from them in stopping the main villain while also learning that Eggsy's mentor survived from the first film but with amnesia. While the action sequences are just as crazy and fun as the first film and the acting is really great, the second Kingsman film isn't as great as the first one. There isn't a lot of interaction between Julianne Moore's bubbly villain and the spy heroes just like with Samuel L. Jackson in the first. Though most of the action scenes are well done, many of them feel way too frenetic and occur too often at times. While seeing the Statesman agents was great to expand on this universe, the fact that Channing Tatum only appears for about ten minutes and doesn't do much is very disappointing. The most memorable part of the film is the final battle at the end between Eggsy and his allies against Moore's villain and her goons, though how it ends just feels confusing and doesn't make any sense.
