Black Mass stars Johnny Depp in one of his greatest performances of all time as the real life mobster Whitey Bulger. The film is brilliant in how it shows the rise and fall of Bulger from the mid-1970s to the present as he goes from respected crime boss to one of the most wanted men in America. Fun to watch and always mesmerizing, Depp is nearly unrecognizable as a man surrounded by violence and death and can play the real life criminal with both compassion and sincerity to horror and unsympathetic.
